On Thursday 7 August 2025, Right Illustrious Companion George Bonham and Illustrious Companion Rob Taylor were joined by W Bro Mick Marks to visit the one of the branches of Caring Together – a beneficiary of the Royal & Select Masters Sesquicentenary Appeal who received a donation of £2,500
Caring Together is a leading regional charity dedicated to supporting unpaid carers of all ages across Cambridgeshire, Huntingdonshire, and Norfolk. Their vision is a world where no unpaid carer faces crisis, isolation, or struggle alone.
The visitors were warmly welcomed by Arda, the charity’s host for the morning, who greeted everyone with tea, coffee, and a selection of biscuits. Soon, members, volunteers, and guests settled into friendly conversation. Arda formally opened the meeting with a warm welcome and an introduction to the day’s purpose.
There are over 150,000 unpaid carers in the areas supported by Caring Together, and tens of thousands care in silence, often hidden behind closed doors. More than 60% of people will become an unpaid carer at some point—supporting a loved one through illness, disability, mental health struggles, or addiction. Yet despite how common caring is, many carers feel isolated and overwhelmed.
The morning was a thoroughly engaging and enlightening experience for all involved. It offered valuable insight into the vital work of Caring Together and helped deepen the connection between Freemasonry and this outstanding local charity.
